Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is more commonly known, is one of the many components of marijuana. Cannabidiol, which is sometimes referred to as the CBD, is a non-psychoactive phytochemical. CBD American Shaman of Addison, Addison is an excellent resource for this. It was first discovered by Dr. Isaac Perlis during his study of the therapeutic properties of marijuana. He found that CBD reduced the nausea associated with chemotherapy and relieved the suffering of those who were undergoing cancer treatment. In recent years, it has gained popularity as an herbal supplement used to treat a wide range of ailments including seizures, chronic pain, depression, and anxiety.
Although there have been no clinical trials involving human patients using CBD, there are a number of anecdotal accounts reported in news sources and websites dealing with alternative medicine. Many of these reports focus on CBD’s ability to treat or at least mitigate the symptoms of diseases such as cancer, AIDS, Parkinson’s, MS, arthritis, as well as psoriasis, epilepsy and attention deficit disorder (ADD). There is no medical evidence that CBD is unsafe, and it has been found that it significantly reduces the risks of a number of common illnesses. In one study found in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, CBD was shown to reduce the risk of sudden death in human beings who were taking certain antineoplastic drugs, suggesting that CBD may even be beneficial in preventing cancer development.
It is currently believed that CBD can also help reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Two studies published in peer-reviewed journals show that CBD may be effective in combating the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. In one study of patients diagnosed with delusional infatuation who were receiving ongoing therapy, patients treated with CBD had a significant improvement in mood and decreased psychotic symptoms. Another study on CBD and patients with obsessive-compulsive disorders showed that CBD seemed to improve patient moods and anxiety levels as well as helping to prevent the development of new habits (e.g., lack of grooming). There are many potential health benefits to be gained from CBD and more research is needed to determine its usefulness in the treatment of various health issues.
